N Street Village supports women to achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency possible through the Education and Employment Center (EEC). Women interested in pursuing education, vocational training, volunteer opportunities or employment work with EEC staff to develop individualized plans to achieve their goals.

EEC is projected to serve 200 women during the coming year;
working with approximately 70 women at a time.

Thanks to the generous support of The Boeing Company and the Hal Maclay Gwinn Estate, EEC is piloting an innovative work program called WISE Women Training Programs. WISE stands for Working In Supportive Senior Environments and includes a six week training course that prepares women for support positions in senior care facilities and places training program graduates with partner employers.

WISE graduates enter the job market with a food handler’s license, CPR/First Aid certificate and skills needed to care for the aging. Partner employers fill vacant positions with highly trained graduates who may have limited work histories and N Street Village supports the partnership by paying half the employment costs of the place graduate for the first year of employment.
