By volunteering at N Street Village, you play an essential role in improving the lives of women experiencing homelessness in our community. N Street Village hosts more than 400 volunteers annually who donate more than 12,000 hours of service.
Individual volunteers work directly with our clients or behind the scenes to help keep our organization running smoothly.
Volunteers prepare and serve breakfasts and lunches, pick-up donations, help maintain our courtyard garden, support with fundraising and event planning, share their professional skills, and offer health promotion services to women in our Wellness Center.
*Note: All volunteers need to be age 14 or older to volunteer at N Street Village. All volunteers under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
N Street Village is not able to accommodate pre-court or court mandated volunteers.
Complete the online Individual Volunteer Information Form.
Once your volunteer information form is reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to an upcoming orientation.
Sign up for a volunteer orientation. All potential N Street Village volunteers must participate in a one-hour orientation before beginning their service. Orientations are held twice per month on the 2nd and 4th Monday at 11 a.m.
Thank you for thinking of volunteering your community service hours to N Street Village. Due to a very reliable core of volunteers who serve on a regular basis, N Street Village cannot easily accommodate individuals in need of completing a large amount of community service hours in a short amount of time. Learn about N Street Village’s community service suggestions. If any of these suggestions are of interest to you please contact aburch@www.nstreetvillage.org to discuss further.
Thank you for your interest in group volunteering with N Street Village. Group tasks are assigned according to our current and anticipated priorities, your group size, and your availability. We can accommodate up to 15 individuals depending on service activities available.
Please complete Group Volunteer Information Form.
All requests will be reviewed, and availability will be determined based on the time frame provided and current project needs.
If a project is available for your group, a confirmation email will be sent including additional information about volunteering at N Street Village and project(s) available.
If you have any issues with these volunteer forms or questions about the opportunities, please contact Alex Burch at aburch@nstreetvillage.org.
We take the comfort of our clients very seriously, and our goal is to cultivate volunteers in the D.C. metro area who can develop long-lasting and important relationships with the women we serve. For that reason, we suggest that groups outside the area volunteer with our partner program, The Steinbruck Center for Urban Studies.
Located across the street from N Street Village in Luther Place Memorial Church, the Steinbruck Center has a hostel that sleeps 23 and provides access to a full kitchen. Steinbruck Center groups receive programming on homelessness and poverty, as they hear stories of Luther Place and N Street Village, while connecting faith with service. If this seems like a good fit for your group, check out the website: www.steinbruckcenter.org or contact steinbruckcenter@lutherplace.org to learn more about their program options.
